Early Life and Education

Mokgweetsi Masisi, born on July 21, , is the son of the late Edison Masisi, a long-serving Member of Parliament.

Growing up in Gaborone, Masisi attended Thornhill Primary School and Maru A Pula School. Initially pursuing a passion for acting, he received acclaim for his portrayal in the Gaborone production of "Cry, the Beloved Country."

Teaching and Academic Career

After graduating from the University of Botswana in with a degree in English and History, Masisi embarked on a career in teaching social sciences.

He served at Mmanaana Secondary School and the University of Botswana as a curriculum developer. In , he obtained a Master's degree in Education from Florida State University and subsequently worked for UNICEF in Botswana.

Political Beginnings

Masisi entered politics in when he won a parliamentary seat representing Moshupa constituency.

He was appointed Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, later becoming Minister in In , he was appointed Minister of Education and Skills Development.

Vice-Presidency and Succession

On November 12, , Masisi was appointed Vice-President of Botswana by President Ian Khama.
